Blue Stone dust from a local quarry was put down. Hand tamped. As you can see the Rebar templet is placed into the center. I used a steel tube which I hammered into the middle making sure it was Vertical with a level. The rebar is the only thing I was able to make based on the limited information Dan Supplied in his book. As he stated the shape was like a question mark using a 6 ft peice of rebar. So it was a matter of bending the rod. I got together with a friend who has a mech shop. We used his exhaust bender to help with the shaping. We were shooting for a 2 foot high arch on the out side.
Having the rebar in the pipe allows for easy spinning. As I begin to build.

Let the building begin. Some of the hardest things to think about is vertical stacking. The next challenge was wondering what would be the best process to begin laying out my stone. I started building up to the Rebar. But soon found out this was a disaster waiting to happen. The problem that happened was the stone fell over like dominos. So I wasted 1/2 day but learned that lesson early.

Notice the rebar stakes held in at each end to keep the stones from falling over.

Knee pad makes life easy on the legs when you spend so much time so low to the ground.

Working in the rain can't be the best day. Having the right gear and your Ipod can make it all better. I had to use some small pieces of plywood to help keep me from sinking as I worked.
