The stones are in place, a good portion of the foundation has been dug. The stones were reclaimed from an old home that was recently demolished just a few blocks away from this building site.

Freezing temperatures over night and thawing during the day makes this site a mud pit. The old pallets and plywood help make the wall building experience a bit more pleasurable.

All these stones have been placed into the wall by hand. To date, I haven't used anything but manual labor to build my walls.

The nicest stones are used on the face of the wall and the rest is used behind the wall. As you can see I've used everything from stone to broken bits of concert and yes, even old bricks.

The height of the wall has been determined by the completed section on the right. At the highest point this wall measures just smidgen over 4 feet.

The selection of stone that’s still available is dwindling quickly. I decided to throw in a few randomly placed cantilevered stones. They extend from the face of the wall 4 to 6 inches and make a great place to set a cold beverage. Some like the look while others do not, I like it!
