In the beginning, a lot of rocks and weeds.
Our builder had to blast out the basement (3 inches of soil, 4000 feet of Kentucky limestone)
The lot extends beyond the trees, but when the stream floods you can't get there

Bought the DSC book and started in. Got NOWHERE fast.
LOML convinced me to take the 2 day workshop. Tore down what I did and started over. This is the result.
Taught her everything I learned, and we did it all together. Turns out she's a better stone cutter!

Time out to build a bridge. When the water is high, we can't cross the stream.
We sank concrete pylons to the limestone, anchored the supports.
(Only had to go down 3 feet)

These rocks came from Mercer Quarry, near Harrodsburg, KY.
They are kind to us amateur dry stone masons. Good quality stone, too. A lot of it is BLACK, if you like that.

The second "100 year flood" lapped at the bottom step, but no problem. Note the neighbor's bridge floated down to ours! You can also see the rocks we dug up while digging the wall foundations

Note the improved quality of work, mostly due to better material from Mercer Quarry.
Had to rebuild sections of the bottom wall due to shale already crumbling after 2 years.
