Introductory Dry Stone Workshops at Salem Art Works…
On October 6-7 and 8-9 we'll be teaming up with Salem Art Works in Salem, New York to offer two, two-day workshops to the general public on retaining walls and freestanding walls. Whether you are just finding out about the craft, or have admired it for years, you'll walk away from the workshops more capable to build and more knowledgeable about dry stone masonry.
Introductory Workshops are designed for drystone enthusiasts with little to no previous experience who would like to gain a basic understanding of dry stone construction techniques. This workshop is also the standard point of entry for those who may have done trail work, landscaping, and hardscaping who wish to better their working knowledge of the craft. The pace will be comfortable and participants will learn the fundamental skills needed to build and repair a typical rock fence or retaining wall.
Introductory Retaining Wall Workshop, October 6-7 in Salem, NY - This introductory retaining wall workshop will take place at Salem Art Works in Salem, NY. Alex Miller, DSC Journeyman, will lead the workshop in rebuilding a low-height (2-3ft tall) existing retaining wall (perfect for home hobbyists/gardeners), learning the fundamentals along the way. Introductory Rock Fence Workshop, October 8-9 in Salem, NY - This introductory rock fence workshop will also take place at Salem Art Works in Salem, NY. Alex Miller, DSC Journeyman, will lead the workshop in building a new rock fence (4ft tall) installation learning the fundamentals of free standing rock fences along the way.
