Dear friends of the Dry Stone Conservancy,
February 14, 2026, the Dry Stone Conservancy proudly celebrates its 30th birthday — three decades of training craftsmen, restoring historic structures, and safeguarding one of America’s most enduring building traditions. This milestone belongs to everyone who has supported our mission, learned with us, built with us, and believed in the value of dry stone masonry.
Over the past thirty years, we’ve trained hundreds of masons, restored miles of historic rock fence, countless dry stone structures, partnered with communities around the globe, and helped ensure that this ancient craft continues to thrive in the modern world. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our masons, volunteers, partners, and supporters.
This year, we’re marking our 30th anniversary with a series of special events, including a large‑scale group build bringing together masons from across North America. It will be a celebration of skill, tradition, and community — and we hope you’ll be part of it. We are also launching the North American Dry Stone Survey. This open source project will allow anyone and everyone to submit to an inventory of dry stone structures across North America.

As we look ahead to the next thirty years, your support remains essential. Whether you join us at an event, participate in training, contribute to programming, or help spread the word about our work, you are helping preserve a craft that has shaped landscapes, communities, and history.
Thank you for being part of the Dry Stone Conservancy’s story. Here’s to the next chapter — and to the walls that will stand long after us.
Warm regards,
The Dry Stone Conservancy
