Get ready for a HUGE fall!
Fall is pretty much here, and the Dry Stone Conservancy is gearing up for another exciting season of workshops! We have a variety of opportunities to learn and be exposed to this historic craft, from beginner-friendly introductions to advanced techniques.
Workshops Available:
FREE FESTIVAL Introductory Workshop at Lower Howard’s Creek (October 2-3, Clark Co., KY): Help restore a historic wall at this historic nature preserve. Free for the first 16 participants. Space is limited so please only sign up if you can 100% attend!
FREE FESTIVAL Advanced Fence Arch Workshop at Lower Howard’s Creek (October 2-3, Clark Co., KY): Learn the basics behind building an arch within a rock fence. Free for the first 8 participants who have previously taken an introductory workshop with the DSC or the Stone Trust. Space is limited so please only sign up if you can 100% attend!
National Walling Competition and Festival (October 4, Clark Co., KY): Compete in one of three classes for the ultimate dry stone bragging rights!
Introductory Workshop at Shaker Village (October 18-19, Harrodsburg, KY): Help restore a historic wall at the beautiful Shaker Village. On-site lodging available. ($400)
Introductory Dry Stone Workshop (November 8-9, Nicholasville, KY): Gain hands-on experience with historic stonework at the Springhouse Gardens. This workshop is part of our new Work Exchange program. If you can’t afford to attend then you can exchange 2 days of Volunteering in the Bluegrass Region to cover the workshop registration fee! ($400/or free with Work Exchange).
Stone Lettering Class (November 22, Bourbon County, KY): Learn the art of hand-carved lettering in stone in this intensive one-day class. ($250)

Ready for Certification?
If you're interested in becoming a certified dry stone mason, contact dscadmin@drystone.org for our 2025 Certification Program Packet. We'll be conducting DSC timed tests for all levels on Monday, October 6, 2026.
